Sources close to Guzzable have claimed that Chelsea’s Spanish striker Diego Costa will be looking to remain at the West London club for at least one more season, and possibly for two.
Despite a falling out with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte earlier in the season, with rumours persisting that Chinese clubs were on the verge of making a huge offer for the 28 year old, the player has now suggested that he will remain with the club for one more season at the very least for two reasons.
The first, claimed by sources is that he wishes to continue to play for Chelsea and feels he is the main front-man and will remain to be so under Conte’s management. Secondly, with the World Cup approaching, a move to China may well harm his chances for the Spain international side.
Costa believes that until he no longer feels as first choice, or is in Conte’s immediate plans, he will remain at Stamford Bridge, certainly for next season.
Should Chelsea wish to sell Costa, it is believed his former club Atleti, will not be in a position to match their transfer fee, apparently Chelsea would have been financially happier to take the offer from China rather than await a probable lesser fee from the players favourite destination.
Whilst Costa is currently “happy” in London, there is no place like home and it remains to be see whether Conte would consider allowing the striker to head back whilst cutting in some sort of deal to see Manchester United target Antoinne Griezmann heading to London. They are certainly two different types of players but one can imagine the desturction of both the Frenchman and Eden Hazard in the same setup!
With Costa seemingly committed to the Chelsea cause it appears there is a very strong chance he shall remain there for the forseeable future but as all things football, you just never know!
